Project Purpose
The project's purpose is to design and develop a on-site water treatment system that provides a dependable source of water for the River’s Edge Ranch. The River’s Edge Ranch is disconnected from a potable water network which creates a challenge in providing clean drinking water to its inhabitants. Unfortunately, their efforts in using groundwater as a source of potable water for livestock maintenance and agricultural activities, through the funding and construction of a well, were truncated due to the high salinity of the groundwater.
Community activities are supported by the daily trucking in of water from a nearby site to supply the daily water demand. The daily cost of trucking in the water averages a total of $100 per day. This project determines the best course of action by analyzing research data either provided with or collected by the group and then proposes a water treatment design while keeping future site development plans and recommendations made by project advisors in mind. This project provides a design for a on-site water treatment system that promotes the practice of sustainability while reducing the cost of maintenance for the facility and improving the quality of life of the River’s Edge Ranch.
