Water Quality
When designing our water treatment system, an important factor that we looked into was the raw water quality that we’ll be treating. From our tests conducted off-site on the same day that the samples were cooled and collected, we determined that our water was high in both total dissolved solids and total suspended solids. Furthermore, testing showed that the pipes bringing water from the groundwater source to the proposed water treatment/storage site were contaminated or damaged. This damage/contamination led to the water quality worsening from the groundwater source to the proposed water treatment location. With this in mind we propose a quick flash chlorination treatment to clean out the pipes, and if the pipes are still contaminating the water, then removing and replacing the pipes would be our best solution. Tested water quality parameters that were worrisome included coliforms that were present in the water, high Total Dissolved Solids in the water, and many secondary water quality parameters that exceeded the recommended standards. Keeping that in mind, our water treatment solution must address these concerns in order to ensure clean water to our client.
