The purpose of conducting a hydrology study was to investigate and mitigate problems that could occur due to surface runoff experienced by the River’s Edge Ranch and surrounding areas. If the region of interest is subject to flooding, the design of the water treatment facility must include safety measures that address the potential risks associated with large amounts of surface runoff. The scope of work includes the delineation of the site’s watershed using the program ArcMap, the determination of the hydrologic soil group, and the calculating of the peak discharge experienced relative to varying storm events. Through this information, any preparations needed in order to protect the site from possible hazards can be made and recommended to the client, The River’s Edge Ranch.
